habiTAT ist ein Solidarzusammenschluss der sich zur Aufgabe macht, selbstorganisierte, finanziell niederschwellige und sozialgebundene Mietshaus-Projekte in Österreich zu verwirklichen. Unser Verein will damit günstigen sowie gesunden Wohnraum und Lebensqualität für alle schaffen. Wir fördern damit die Verbindung von Wohn-, Kultur- und Lebensraum unter einem Dach. Das Hinterfragen gegebener Strukturen und das selbstverantwortliche “tätig” werden, spiegelt unser Do-It-Yourself-Grundverständnis wider. Damit stellen wir die Prinzipien von Konkurrenz und des unreflektierten Konsums in unserer Gesellschaft in Frage. Mehr zu unseren Prinzipien in unserem Selbstverständnis. Als rechtlich angemeldeter Verein – seit Jänner 2014 – arbeitet das habiTAT eng mit dem Mietshäuser Syndikat in Deutschland zusammen. Wir haben so das in Deutschland entwickelte Sydikatsmodell auf die österreichische Rechtsordnung übertragen. Mit den Projekt Willy*Fred in Linz gibt es seit 2015 das erste Haus nach diesem Modell in Österreich. Mittlerweile sind weitere Häuser dazugekommen und beweien so ganz praktisch, dass unser Modell funktioniert. Hier finden sich alle aktuellen habiTAT-Projekte.

habiTAT is a solidarity association whose mission is to realize self-organized, financially low-threshold and socially linked apartment building projects in Austria. Our association wants to create affordable and healthy living space and quality of life for everyone. In this way, we promote the connection of residential, cultural and living space under one roof. Questioning given structures and taking action on our own responsibility reflects our basic understanding of do-it-yourself. In doing so, we question the principles of competition and unreflective consumption in our society. More about our principles in our mission statement.
As a legally registered association – since January 2014 – habiTAT works closely with the Mietshäuser Syndikat in Germany. We have thus transferred the syndicate model developed in Germany to the Austrian legal system. The Willy*Fred project in Linz has been the first house based on this model in Austria since 2015.
